UK in Autumn

"Autumn is a second Spring when every leaf is a flower."

Most of you  will choose Spring over Autumn, but to me Autumn is the prettiest season. Watching the fall foliage is a pure bliss.

There are only a few places I have visited in UK during fall (September - November), but none of them seemed to have disappointed me.

1. Dimmingsdale:

This is definitely one of the hidden gems of England. I read about this place on the internet and there was something about it that really fascinated me. It is near Alton tower and can easily be reached by bus from Stoke On Trent railway station. However it is easier to get there by car.

You can take a stroll in the forest and explore the unexplored. You will hardly find any crowd and can have the place all to yourself. If you feel hungry, there is a small restaurant serving delicious lasagna.

2. Thetford forest:

This is definitely one of the best walking and cycling trails in East England to observe fall colours. You can download the trail map online. Thetford is connected to London and other major cities in East England by Greater Anglia rail. You can take a cab from the railway station to Lynford stag car park.

Even though the whole trail is full of different fall colours, the road from Lynford Lodge to Lynford Arboretum is unbelievably beautiful. Make sure you carry a camera to take loads of photos.

You can have lunch at the Lynford Hall hotel, which is about halfway down the trail. Just for your info, their beef steak is pretty good.

3. Scotland:

Scotland is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in the world with picturesque landscapes and great wilderness. During Autumn you get to see beautiful fall colours every now and then.

From the Highlands to the Isle of Skye, there is a splash of colours almost everywhere.

4. Bath:

Bath is hands down the prettiest city in England. Situated in the southwest part of the country, this city of hot springs is well connected to the major cities by bus and train. Its narrow lanes and roman architecture look absolutely stunning with the backdrop of golden trees.

5. Cambridge:

I have a secret (well not anymore) love affair with this place. This historic city looks gorgeous in golden hue. You can walk around the colleges, streets and gardens or enjoy punting on the river Cam while admiring the royal architectures.

6. London:

The list is incomplete without London. It is my favourite city in all seasons. However enjoying the fall foliage in the city parks and gardens is a feast for the eyes.

Hyde Park, St James Park, The Regents Park, Greenwich Park - there are plenty of places in London that offer a great show of fall colours.

However, my favourite is Green Park, next to Buckingham Palace. I can spend hours there, strolling around without getting bored. Early mornings are the best as you will not find many people around.

Jubilee gardens also look spectacular with the iconic London eye in the background.

You must be having a different list. Why don't you share your favourite places in UK in the comments? Also, please let me know if you agree with my list and enjoy the last few days of the beautiful season.
